Thursday was full on for the students and staff of Tirau Primary School. First they all arrived at the Plaza Theatre in the morning for a rehearsal on the stage, along with the sound and lighting effects – then at 7pm the full production took to the boards.
The Plaza came alive at night to the sound of children singing, dancing and acting, as their production The Tirau Tamariki Tour began.
The school bus, (whose wheels still go ’round and round’), travelled to Maungatautari, the Blue Springs, Corrogated Creations and a farm, as it took the audience on a tour of the South Waikato area and the local attractions on offer.
Moving large groups of students on and off stage is no easy matter, but item changes were well handled. One small pupil was heard to ask, “where are we going now?” His mate replied, “Up there!”
The Plaza was full to capacity with parents, grandparents and extended family. It was a memorable night full of fun and creativity.
